We would like to welcome Dr. Rania H. Younis, BDS, MDS, PhD, Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologist with OralPath-DentCare, LLC to the Richardson Center for Oral and Facial Surgery. Dr. Younis addresses her patients symptoms through thorough medical history taking and clinical examinations, with conservative treatment and follow up. She manages oral cavity ulcerations, red and white lesions, reactive, inflammatory, and autoimmune conditions. Dr. Younis also provides screening for oral cancer and follow ups for potentially malignant lesions. She performs oral biopsies and microscopic diagnosis of the oral lesions. Most of her microscopic diagnosises are related to soft tissue lesions, jaw lesions, odontogenic and salivary gland lesions. Dr. Younis's specialization includes diagnosis of benign and malignant tumors of the oral cavity.
Dr. Younis, joins us from University of Maryland where she served as a former clinical associate professor and program director of the advanced program in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, the Department of Oncology and Diagnostic Sciences, University of Maryland School of Dentistry. She also served as an adjunct faculty at the Department of Pathology, University of Maryland School of Medicine.
Dr. Younis received her Bachelor of Dental Medicine and Surgery from the Faculty of Dentistry, Alexandria University, Egypt. After which she practiced general dentistry and completed her Master's in Oral Pathology. Dr. Younis completed her residency in Oral and MaxiIlofacial Pathology from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and her PhD in Oral and Experimental Pathology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore Graduate School. She was also a NIH/NRSA postdoctoral fellow for two years.
Dr. Younis is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology and a member of the American Dental Association, the Maryland State Dental Association and Howard County Dental Association. Dr. Younis has several peer reviewed publications and served as a guest editor in Frontiers of Oral Health, on the understanding of oral cancer development and the response of our immune system, with the ultimate goal of early detection and prevention of the disease.
Dr. Younis lives in Howard county with her husband and three children. In her free time, she likes spending time with her family, walking trails, running and biking. She also enjoys gardening, baking, traveling, playing tennis and chess.
